Here we go with the Todd`s canopy. I decided that I wanted a little tint with my canopy and reading many reports in VAF, I decided I wanted a little thicker canopy, which Todd`s is compared to the stock Van`s canopy.
This canopy is said to stand a little taller than the stock canopy and there are no reference lines to go by in comparison to the stock canopy.
I started by placing the canopy on the fuselage, removed some cleco`s so they wouldn`t scratch the interior of the canopy.
Tried to measure the rear of the canopy equal distance, marked the centre, and did the same to the front. Once that was complete, I removed about 2 inches of the ceophane covering and taped it to the plex to avoid having any chips or dirt from getting under the covering.
Added a layer of tape around the perimeter and then used a sharpie taped to an eraser and followed the contour of the front skirt and transfered it to the tape on the windscreen.
This will be the first cut.
I was surprised at how rough the edges are on the canopy when I removed the protective covering...no sanding do at all at the factory.
